Jonathan has been singing in church choirs from age seven, when he was invited to join the choir at St Luke’s church in Sevenoaks where he grew up.  He joined the choir here at St Johns in 1985 shortly after moving to the area, and had singing lessons with Keith Darlington (then head of vocal studies at Birmingham Conservatoire).

He is a longstanding member of the Birmingham Bach Choir and was its Chairperson for four years; when working in central Birmingham he also deputised St Philip’s cathedral choir. He is the workshop co-ordinator for Midlands Early Music Forum.

Jonathan has been Director of Music at St John’s since 2017 – directing our mixed choir at Friday rehearsals and Sunday and festival services.
